This project focuses on designing a magazine layout for a skateboard company, drawing inspiration from the rebellious and high-energy nature of skate culture. Rather than adhering to conventional editorial structures, the design embraces a raw, dynamic aesthetic that reflects the bold personality of the brand.

Problem
A lot of magazine layouts stick to really clean grids and safe typography, which just doesn’t vibe with skate culture. For a brand that’s all about rebellion, energy, and personality, the usual editorial approach felt too polished and didn’t reflect the spirit of the sport.
Research
I dug into the visual world of skateboarding—looking at everything from Rob Roskopp’s bold, drippy graphics to zines, street art, and even the raw edits in skate videos. I paid attention to how movement and messiness could still feel intentional and how type and color could be pushed without losing legibility.

Solution
I created a layout that throws out the rulebook—ditching strict grids in favor of something more fluid and expressive. I pulled in high-energy colors, dynamic shapes, and playful type to match the intensity and personality of skateboarding. The result feels bold, a little chaotic, and true to the brand, while still being clear and readable.
